2009 Employee Photo Contest Rules

Photo Formats

Entries may be digital images. Please be sure photos meet our minimum requirements of 1024x768 pixels (300dpi or 1 – 5 MB .jpg files) and that there are no special characters or spaces in the photo file name such as / * # " : &.

Photographer/Copyright

Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than you. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.

Photo Subject Restrictions

Questionable or inappropriate content will not be considered. Xanterra Parks & Resorts (Xanterra) retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content. Photos containing recognizable people must be accompanied by a signed model release form. A model release form must be signed for each person in the photo and e-mailed or faxed to us within 24 hours of submitting your photo entry. See the "How to Enter" section below for e-mail and fax contact information. There is no limit to the amount of photos one can submit per category. Entrants can submit photos for each category.

Return of Photos

Photos, regardless of the medium will not be returned. Please do not send your only copy of a photo. 

Ownership/Use Rights

By entering the contest, photographers agree to grant Xanterra Parks & Resorts the royalty-free and nonexclusive right to distribute, publish and use the photograph(s) in publications and Internet to promote Grand Canyon South Rim operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts to use as they see fit.

How to Enter

There are three ways to submit photographs. Please do not send prints.

1. Contestants my fill out the online 2009 Employee Photo Contest Entry Form, which includes the option to upload their photos (up to 5 MB) and photograph release form. Please upload only one photo at a time.
2. Contestants may e-mail their digital photos (up to 5 MB) to pinyonpress@xanterra.net. Completed photographer and model release forms may be scanned and e-mailed to the same e-mail address. Forms may also be faxed to (928)638-9810.
3. Contestants may submit photographs digitally by mail on a CD or DVD. Please do not send prints. Mail to: Group Sales Office Attn: Diane Murdock P.O. Box 699 Grand Canyon, AZ 86023.

Judging

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the beauty and/or unique character of the Grand Canyon South Rim. Photos must be submitted prior to December 31, 2009.

Winners

One grand prize winner will be selected encompassing all the categories and one first place winner will be selected for each category. If fewer than ten eligible photographs are entered in a category, Xanterra Parks & Resorts may choose to name only a first place winner, or may cancel that category. In addition, one or more honorable mention winners may be selected in categories with especially large numbers of entries, at the discretion of the judging panel. Winners will be notified by January 15, 2010 by phone and e-mail using the information on the entry form. Random photo submissions will be posted in online photo contest gallery monthly. Winning photos will also be published on www.grandcanyonlodges.com in the Photo Contest section after winners have been announced.

Prizes

One Grand Prize Winner will receive dinner for two at El Tovar Dining Room. (Up to a $120 value.)  One First Place Winner will receive dinner for two at the Arizona Room. (Up to a $90 value.)  One Second Place Winner will receive dinner for two at the Bright Angel Dining Room.  (Up to a $65 value.)
