National Parks and
Federal Recreation Lands
Annual Pass
A new federal recreation pass is available that combines the benefits of existing recreation passes from five federal agencies into one comprehensive pass: “America the Beautiful – the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass.”
The new
Annual
Pass covers recreation opportunities on public lands managed by the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Reclamation that currently charge entrance or standard amenity fees. The pass offers a cost-effective and easy option for those who plan to visit multiple federal recreation sites.
The annual pass is $80 and covers the pass holder and three (3) accompanying adults age 16 and older at sites where per person entrance fees are charged. No entry fee for children 15 and under. It is valid for one year from the month of validation.
One hundred percent (100%) of the revenue derived from passes sold at federal recreation sites will directly benefit the selling agency and no less than 80 percent of the revenue will remain at the site where the pass was sold.
The new program replaces the
National
Parks
Pass, Golden Eagle, Golden Age, and the Golden Access Passports. Existing passes will remain valid until expired.
Beginning January 2007 the new pass will be available for purchase at federal recreation sites that charge entrance and standard amenity fees and via the Internet at:http://store.usgs.gov/pass/index.html.
Senior Pass
The Senior Pass replaces the Golden Age Passport and is for citizens or permanent residents of the United States, who are 62 years of age or older. It provides access to, and use of, any Federal recreation site that charges an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee, and provides a discount on some Expanded Amenity Fees.
The cost of the Senior Pass is $10, and it is valid for the lifetime of the pass holder. Photo identification may be requested to verify pass ownership. Existing plastic Golden Age Passports are valid for a lifetime. Therefore, if you would like the new Senior Pass, you may purchase one at the price listed above with proof of identification, e.g. driver’s license, birth certificate, or similar document.
Access Pass
The Access Pass replaces the Golden Access Passport and is for citizens or permanent residents of the United States, regardless of age, who have been medically determined to have a permanent disability. It provides access to, and use of, any federal recreation site that charges an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee and provides a discount on some Expanded Amenity Fees.
The Access Pass is free, and it is valid for the lifetime of the pass holder. Photo identification may be requested to verify pass ownership. The pass must be obtained in person.
