This 10x13 framed Medicine Chart demonstrates some of the herbs used in Native American medicine. The gathering of herbs for use in medicine is traditionally performed by a Navajo Medicine man. Others who have been given the "gift of seeking" may also gather these plants. Special prayers are often said as the herbs are collected so as to insure that healing will occur. A medicine pouch or medicine bundle is used to carry the various herbs, corn pollen, etc. needed for specific ceremonies.
