Where We Live

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is open all year and is located on the Arizona side of the Canyon. The South Rim receives 90% of the park’s visitation.

The South Rim has an airport and rail service and is a 90-minute drive from Interstate 40 and the transportation centers of Williams and Flagstaff, Arizona. A larger city with a major airport, Phoenix, Arizona, is also on this side of the canyon, and is approximately a four-hour drive.

Grand Canyon National Park Lodges is a community living environment. Community living can be a great way to bond and create lifelong friendships with others who share similar interests and values, however, it does come with some challenges. Being prepared will help with your transition.

Employee housing varies by position; however, most housing is dormitory- style with communal bathrooms. Each dorm room accommodates 2 – 3 people and includes beds, closets, dressers, and a nightstand. Laundry facilities are included. Dormitory buildings do not have cooking facilities. You must be 18 years of age or older to live in company housing and must be actively employed by Xanterra. Pets, children, and smoking are not permitted in dormitory housing.

Couples housing may be available as well. Please include your spouse’s/significant other’s name on your application if you are applying together. Visit our website for more details.
Some positions will qualify for apartment housing or better. Inquire with our human resources department for more information.

The Employee Cafeteria serves a variety of meal options that include multiple hot entrées and side dishes, sandwiches, salads, fruits, cereals, and beverages.

Vegetarian options are available at each meal; however, the E-Cafe chef and crew are not able to accommodate all dietary needs such as vegan or allergy-related restrictions.
