Phantom Ranch Lottery

Phantom Ranch (lodging and canteen) is now open for the season to hikers via the South Kaibab Trail, however, due to trail conditions Phantom Ranch mule rides are cancelled through June 30, 2026.

The River Trail and Silver Bridge are both closed and inacccesible through June 30, 2026. Those hiking to Phantom Ranch must take the South Kaibab Trail both to and from Phantom Ranch. Please note that there are no water fill stations on South Kaibab so pack plenty of water. Visit the NPS page for more information regarding the Inner Canyon Trail closures.

Phantom Ranch utilizes a lottery system for random selection of the bed space (cabins and dorms). Please note the Dormitories are currently closed and we unfortunately do not yet have a new target date for them to re-open.

• Lottery entries are made between the 1st and 25th of the 15th month prior to the desired stay month.
• Lottery submissions will be processed, lottery winners notified, and reservations guaranteed by the end of the following month. For example, all lottery submissions entered in November will be notified by the end of December if they have been selected.
• Any unsold/unclaimed inventory and all Phantom Ranch meals will be released to general availability for reservations following the current 13-month reservation window.
