Reservations for Camping & Backpacking

The Mather and Desert View Campgrounds are operated by the National Park Service (NPS). To reserve a campsite, please call 800-365-CAMP or make a campsite reservation online at www.nps.gov/GRCA/planyourvisit.com

Permits are required for all overnight backcountry camping, with the exception of guests with reservations at Phantom Ranch. You can obtain a permit from the park’s Backcountry Information Center up to four months in advance. Please keep in mind that permits are limited.

Rates

Our rates require approval by the National Park Service, so you can always be assured of an excellent value.

Your deposit guarantees the first night’s room rate. Any increases to the room rate after your reservation is confirmed will apply to all additional room nights. Any modifications to your reservation(s) may result in the entire stay being subject to the new applicable rate.

  • Unless otherwise noted, the rates apply per room, per night, based on double occupancy.
  • Rates do not include 6.737% room tax.
  • Taxes and surcharges are subject to change. All room rates are subject to applicable taxes and/or surcharges.
  • Rates are stated in U.S. dollars.

Reservation Policies
We are currently accepting reservations for stays up to 13 months in advance. On the first of each month, we will begin accepting reservations for the entire month of the following year. For example, on September 1, we will accept reservations through September 30 of the following year. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for all properties. Phantom Ranch and El Tovar rooms are extremely popular and will frequently sell out quickly. We regret that we cannot offer a wait list for accommodations.

  • The majority of our rooms are available to book via our online reservation system.
  • Reservations for individuals may be made for up to 9 rooms*.
  • Ten or more rooms for the same stay is considered a Group and these requests may be submitted to Grand Canyon Group Sales office (800-843-8723). Read more information about Groups.

*Phantom Ranch individual reservations may be made for up to 9 hikers. Parties of 10 or more hikers are considered a Group and must be submitted to Phantom Ranch Group Sales. Read more information about Groups.

Deposits
In order to reserve a room, a deposit equal to the first night of your stay (plus tax) is required on each room within 7 days of making the reservation. If arriving within 14 days, a credit card deposit is required to make a reservation. You may use a Discover, JCB, American Express, Carte Blanche, Diners Club, MasterCard or Visa and we will charge your credit card upon completion of the reservation.

The deposit will guarantee your room reservation for an arrival beyond 4:00 p.m. Please note, the deposit will guarantee the reservation and the first night’s room rate only. Any increases to the room rate after your reservation is confirmed will apply to all additional room nights. Any modifications to your reservation(s) may result in the entire stay being subject to the new applicable rate.

When reserving Phantom Ranch or a tour, the required deposit is full payment. Any modifications to your reservation(s) may result in the entire stay/tour being subject to the new applicable rate.

Cancellations
If your plans change for any reservation, you may receive a full refund of the deposit provided you cancel the reservation and obtain a cancellation number at least 2-days prior to the designated check-in time and arrival date. (Excluding Group reservations for Phantom Ranch which requires a 30-days cancellation request prior to the designated check-in time and arrival date for a full refund.) If making a reservation within 2-days of arrival, the deposit is immediately non-refundable. Modify or cancel an existing reservation.

Modify or Cancel Your Reservation

Please note that only reservations made online can be modified online. If you wish to modify a reservation that was not made online please contact our central reservation office directly. We recommend you call our central reservations office directly to modify or cancel a reservation within 5 days of arrival. Modification or cancellation requests beyond 6 days may be sent via fax or e-mail.
